University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Partners with Wisconsin Lutheran College for Physics-Engineering Dual-Degree Program
Milwaukee, WI (02/23/2017) — Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) and University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) have announced a direct admission and reverse transfer program that provides a route for full-time WLC students who successfully complete their prerequisites to gain direct admission to the UWM undergraduate engineering program.
The program allows students to earn both a bachelor of science degree in physics from WLC and a bachelor of science in engineering from UWM. After the student completes two or three years of the physics program at WLC and two years in the engineering program at UWM, final requirements for the B.S. degree at WLC are fulfilled through “reverse transfer.” Students may elect to major in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial, materials, or mechanical engineering at UWM.
According to Brett Peters, Dean of UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science, there is an increased demand for job-ready graduates with multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills and abilities. “WLC is a nationally ranked college with a long history of excellence in valuescentered learning,” Peters said. “This partnership will strengthen our community. Together, we will build a vibrant workforce and increase access for students seeking a distinctive academic program.”
“We’re thrilled to offer this partnership opportunity to students interested in pursuing degrees in both physics and engineering,” states Dr. Daniel Ebeling, Professor of Chemistry at Wisconsin Lutheran College. “Students will benefit from a robust Christian liberal arts education at WLC, conducting undergraduate research alongside expert faculty prior to attending UWM’s prestigious College of Engineering & Applied Science. Students will graduate from both institutions carrying with them the momentum and preparedness for success in graduate school and in the ever-developing world of engineering.”
Students interested in the program should contact the Office of Admissions at Wisconsin Lutheran College at 414.443.8811 or request more information online at wlc.edu/engineering.
