Wisconsin Lutheran College Biology Summer Camp Offers Lab and Field Experiences

Milwaukee, WI (03/06/2020) — Wisconsin Lutheran College will host a Biology Summer Camp from August 3-7, 2020, at its campus in Milwaukee. The camp is open to current high school-age students or freshmen entering college in fall 2020.

Led by the WLC Biology department faculty, students will explore DNA, cells, proteins, bacteria, viruses, ethics, and careers. "This camp gives students hands-on lab and field experience from professors and WLC students," said Dr. John Werner, Associate Professor of Biology. "Students will become familiar with the college atmosphere and its expectations, explore a variety of biological fields and topics, gain experience using professional science equipment, identify potential career paths, sharpen leadership and teamwork skills, and network with other students and professionals in a safe and controlled environment."

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7. The cost for lab and lecture for the entire week is $300 per student and includes daily lunch and snacks, T-shirt, printed materials, and lab supplies. The camp is limited to 36 students. Materials will be emailed prior to camp.

Overnight options are available for $600 and include all the above, plus all meals, additional outings, and housing beginning Sunday, August 2 through Friday, August 7.
