Wisconsin Lutheran College Partners with the Marshfield Clinic School of Radiography

This agreement offers WLC students a new option as they pursue a degree in radiologic technology

Milwaukee, WI (08/25/2020) — Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) announces a new partnership with the Marshfield Clinic School of Radiography. This agreement reflects the fifth partnership between WLC and hospital-affiliated radiologic technology schools in Wisconsin.

Offering students the opportunity to study and train at Marshfield Clinic's School of Radiography positions WLC among the top of Wisconsin colleges and universities in the number of radiologic technology education program options.

"We are very pleased to partner with Marshfield Clinic's excellent School of Radiography," said Dr. Rob Balza, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at WLC. "Marshfield Clinic's outstanding instructors and state-of-the-art clinical facilities provide the perfect complement to the hand-on science and liberal arts education that allied health students receive at WLC."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of radiologic technologists is projected to grow faster than the average of all occupations (9 percent from 2018 to 2028). Radiologic technologists perform many forms of medical imaging including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and work can be found in hospitals, outpatient clinics, diagnostic laboratories, and nursing homes, among other healthcare settings around the world.

WLC's radiologic technology major is a "2+2 program," which means that students take classes for two years at WLC, then complete their final two years of intensive classroom and clinical training at an affiliate hospital. Upon completion of the program, students will have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic technology from Wisconsin Lutheran College and be well-prepared for certification as a Registered Technologist - Radiographer RT(R).

In the Milwaukee area, WLC's radiologic technology education partnerships include Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, and Ascension St. Joseph. Ascension All Saints' School of Radiologic Technology in Racine is also part of the college's offering to students.
